The ReWalk™ Personal System was designed for everyday use in a range of environments. It can be used at home, work, or other locations. It functions outdoors and on different surfaces or terrains. The ReWalk can sit, stand, allows turning and has the ability to climb and descend stairs. The batteries that supply power are intended for all day use and are recharged overnight. It is customized and sized for each individual user. It is available after meeting requirements from a medical examination and successful completion of the required training program. The company also offers a comprehensive maintenance and warranty program for the system once you take it home.
The ReWalk’s ability to sit and stand provides users the capability to enjoy practical benefits that can be hard to achieve in a wheelchair, such as speaking to colleagues face-to-face, having the ability to draw your concepts on a standard whiteboard, or getting up from the living room couch to walk to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Because it mimics a natural walking motion and requires users to control their body movements, the ReWalk system provides a form of exercise that may be particularly beneficial for wheelchairs users with limited exercise options.
The system can accommodate a range of heights (160 to 190 cm / ~63 to ~75 inches) or weights (up to 100 kg / ~220 pounds). The key prerequisites for use include:
- The ability to use hands and shoulders (walking with crutches)
- Healthy cardiovascular system and bone density
- Successful completion of the ReWalk Rehabilitation training system requirements
Launched in 2012, the ReWalk Personal is currently available throughout Europe. In the United States, the ReWalk Personal is awaiting FDA clearance.
